Silicon was discovered by a swedish scientist, Jons Jacob Berzelius, in Sweden of the year 1824.
He discovered this element by experimenting and using chemical reactions with Carbon.
Silicon is found in computer chips, lubricants, concrete, bricks, sand, glass, mechanical and electrical
properties, and it is also found inside our bodies.
Silicon has a few hazards. A part of Silicon, silica and silicates,
can damage the lungs.
Another very important part of Silicon is Silicone. This part is
used in medical fields to make Silicone breast implants. They are very hazardous because if ruptured or deflated, the gel
of the silicone will leak out into the breast tissue and could cause a series of medical problems,
including scarring and infections.
Silicon has many uses for machines, concrete, bricks, glass, clay, computers and steel.
Silicon is also in our everyday life. Silicon is used in our contact lenses, sand,
and doctors use it for surgeries in breast implants.
